Spring Forward: A Season of Transformation

Each spring, we set our clocks forward, adjusting to the longer days and the changing light. The time shift may feel small, but it requires us to recalibrate our routines, be more mindful of our schedules, and embrace a new rhythm. In many ways, this shift mirrors the transformation we are called to undergo during Lent.

Lent is a season of turning: turning inward in reflection, turning outward in love, and turning toward God in faith. Like adjusting to the springtime change, Lenten transformation does not happen instantly. It requires intention, patience, and a willingness to step into something new. We may find ourselves unsettled at first, much like the first mornings after daylight saving time. But over time, the shift becomes part of us, shaping our days and drawing us into a deeper awareness of how we spend our time, energy, and attention.

Both the spring time change and the Lenten season invite us to let go of what is comfortable and familiar. The darkness of winter gives way to increasing light, just as Lent leads us to the hope and renewal of Easter. In this time of transition, we are reminded that growth often comes through small, daily changes—letting go of distractions, embracing moments of stillness, and seeking to walk more closely with God.

As we adjust to the shifting light of spring, may we also be open to the quiet transformations of Lent. How is God inviting you to “spring forward” in faith this season?
